Gavin boy is 3 months old!

(My mom told me not to use a magic marker! Sorry! I'll print something off next time!)

Can you even believe it?! I can't! He is such a sweet baby. He loves his family- he tells us all the time! He smiles like crazy and we love it! He laughs ... sometimes just at himself, but hey, he's hilarious! He loves when I play patty-cake with him... he loves to bounce with me (softly) :) And, drum roll....

He slept in his own room last night! Bobby had been trying to get me to put him in his crib for a while. Yesterday he said "how about tonight since it's his 3 month birthday?) I did it, and I'm so happy! It was a rough night... not sure why? But, it will get better! He was too big for his bassinet!

We love you Gavi!
BIG boy!

Brody and Gavin

Look at that face! silly boy!

Swimming...

Just a little story...

Today, I took Brody swimming. We go to our clubhouse where I can just park Gavin in the stroller in some shade and keep an eye on him while in the pool- it works out nicely! Well, today Brody was jumping off of the side of the pool into the water and I'd catch him. We were doing this for quite a while- he was loving it! I put him back on the side of the pool and turned my head to answer a question (some friends were there with us), all of a sudden I felt Brody jump onto my back and his chin hit my head. We were both fine :) he cried because he was a little scared of what had just happened, but no injuries! Anyway, it just reminded me of a story I heard in Institute while at college about a little boy who jumped out of a tree to his dad when his dad wasn't looking. (The dad would play this game with his son, who thought that he could jump at any time and his dad would always catch him.)

It made me realize how Brody thought the same thing as this little boy. Brody put his trust in me and would jump no matter what. He knew I would catch him. Well, needless to say, I DID catch him, although it was on my back! And, I will continue to catch my kids, I hope they can always have that kind of trust in me! I love them so very much!

the BUZZ!

Brody kept getting sooo hot whenever he'd play outside. I finally gave in and cut his hair AGAIN. (Bobby kept wanting to give him a "buzz") It's so cute! Brody keeps rubbing his head saying "nice haircut!!" He loves it!

WE did the buzzing ourselves!

All of his hair! (no wonder he was roasting!)

His bath after the cutcute boy!

Brody in his firetruck PJ's the next morning (check out that morning hair-do! pretty nice, huh?!)

Gavin's FIRST haircut

We cut Gavin's hair on Sunday (12 weeks old). I can't believe he already needed a little trim. His little hairs on top were just way too long!

Brothers

Brody loves to read to Gavin.

CUTE boys!!

Brody always wants me to put Gavin by him and take a picture!

"Gavi, say cheeeese!!"

Reading.

Look at this cute boy!

Gavin is so much fun! He is such a happy little baby! We absolutely adore him- don't you?! How can you resist those kissable cheeks? (Believe me, you can't!)

Sleepy Boy

Brody fell asleep during dinner a couple of weeks ago (at 6:45 PM). He didn't have a nap that day, and he was OUT right after we started to eat. It was so cute! He kept eating his corn while asleep. We watched him for a few minutes, laughed, took some pictures, and then he was off to bed until 8:30 the next morning. WOW! It was kinda nice :)

I guess we're off the hook!

Whenever I feed Gavin I go into his room and sit in the big comfy rocking chair. Brody grabs a book (lately it's been one called "A Letter to Santa") and climbs up next to me to read it. (His reading usually consists of turning pages- he's like his mom- gets bored easily!) I usually just ask him about the pictures and make up my own "shortened version" of the story. I ask him "who's that?" and "where's Santa?" or "What does Santa say?". He knows who Santa is, and obviously remembers how much he hated the big red guy last year. For the past two days all I hear, every time he looks at the book, is:

"I no Santa come"
Translation- "I don't want Santa to come"

OK- If you say so :)

It's not too late

to brag about my sweet husband!
I know Father's Day was a while ago, but I failed to post about it... I failed at a lot this Father's Day though. (I'm sorry baby!)

(His gift didn't quite turn out and I was at home with a sick 2 year old the night before FD, so I wasn't able to go out at the last minute. That's what I get for procrastinating on a gift and a card. I will NEVER do that again.)
Breakfast was yummy though- right B?!

Bobby is the absolute BEST dad EVER! (I'm not just saying that to be cliche'- I mean it!) He is so wonderful to our 2 sweet boys. He gives them his undivided attention and plays with them as soon as he walks in from work. If I were a Dad, I would want to be like him... but, I'm a Mom and I STILL strive to be like him! He is so patient and loving. The boys absolutely adore him. I love to hear Brody say "Daddy's home!!!!" as soon as he hears the garage door open. Brody looks up to Bobby so much. He wants to be just like him. I'm sure Gavin will want to do the same, and there's no one I'd rather have our kids look up to than him. Gavin gives Bobby the biggest smiles as soon as he sees him each day. I honestly couldn't have asked for a better Husband or Father (to our boys). He is the Best and we love him!
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!

GO TEAM!

Gavin's Blessing

Bobby gave Gavin a wonderful blessing on Sunday, July 5, 2009. We had lots of family and a few close friends at Church with us, and then we all met for lunch afterwards at my parents house. (Thanks mom!!) I am so thankful for Gavin. He is such a sweet, happy baby! (He laughed for the first time on Wed. July 8!! Bobby got him to laugh, of course! He absolutely loves his daddy!) Check out how studly Mr. Brody looks- his hand is in his pocket and he has a huge grin! I love this picture! (My honey looks hot, too!!)

Here are a few pictures from this special day!
(I have more, but these are the ones my mom took... I haven't uploaded mine yet.)

Mommy and Gavin in his "blessing" outfit. (Our Bishop called it a "quasi-suit" haha! Gavin was blessed along with 2 baby girls- so his outfit stood out among the pretty dresses. There aren't many boy blessing outfits to choose from! :) He looked adorable!
Julianne and Bracken, (my SIL and BIL) with Gavin. Julianne is pregnant with Triplets!! When my mom took this picture she said "A picture of one baby on three babies!"
cute kiddies!
Taking a nap after lunch! Bobby and Brody ended up sleeping on the couch for a couple of hours while my Mom, Gavin, and I sat out back on the rocking chairs and talked. It was a fun, relaxing day!

LOTS!

Potty Trained!

I've always worked on potty training Brody, I just never stuck with it. I would let him run around with no diaper for a few hours while we were at home, but then put him in a diaper again. I was reading in a little book that consistency is key. I realized I needed to just do it and get it done with. Here's how I did it:

We stayed home all day for one day last week. I kept him naked (just a shirt on) and took him to the bathroom every 15 minutes or so for the first little bit, then I let more time pass later. Every time he went to the bathroom I did a little song and dance (pee pee on the potty, pee pee on the potty, pee pee, pee pee, pee pee on the potty!) Don't ask how I came up with that- but it worked, and he loved it! He even started to sing and dance while sitting on the toilet :) After he peed, we would wash our hand and then he got to pick a treat out of the jar. He got into quite a routine and would ask for his treat on the way to the bathroom!

After a day of this I put him in some underwear. About 5 minutes later, he peed all over my kitchen floor. He looked up at me, shocked! He thought he was in a diaper, but he had gotten all wet. I told him that he would get wet if he peed in his underwear and that he needed to tell me when he had to go pee pee. (It's actually a good thing he had this accident, because he realized he needed to go in the toilet from that point on). I never got mad at the accidents- I hear you are supposed to just clean them up and move on. It's worked for us.

So, Brody is now in underwear and will tell us when he has to pee. Our only problem is that he won't poo on the toilet. (any suggestions?) I will put him in a pull-up if I know he hasn't gone in a while, just to be safe! He still tells us that he has to pee even with a pull-up on, and they are a lot easier to take off and put back on than diapers! Good job Brody! We are so proud of you!

"Oh! My!...

Gosh!"

That's Brody's new favorite sentence. (Thanks to me) oops!

Chickens

We went to St. George last weekend for my cousins wedding reception. When we got out of the car to go to the party :) we saw some chickens eating flowers out of someones yard. After the reception we told Brody we would go see the chickens (he thought they were pretty cool, so he gave up the trampoline to go see them!). When we got back to the place where we saw the chickens, they were gone. My Dad noticed they were now behind a gate in a little coop. He took Brody over by the fence and showed him the chickens. Me, Bobby, and my Mom were standing on the sidewalk behind them, but couldn't see the chickens. All of a sudden, we heard Brody start to cry like he was scared. My Dad came over to us with Brody in tears and told us that one of the chickens flew off of a little perch and spread its wings right in front of them. Brody got so scared- he had no clue the fence would separate him from the bird, and I would be scared too if I were the size of Brody and had a big chicken spread its wings above me.

Well, throughout the rest of the night, Brody and my Dad kept making bird noises (cock-a-doodle-doo!) Brody thought it was pretty funny, until...

he woke up screaming and crying during the night. I picked him up and brought him into bed with us. It took a few minutes to calm him down and then he leaned over and looked on the side of the bed (where he had been sleeping, on the floor) and said... "chicken gone!"

I felt so bad. He had a nightmare about a chicken. Poor guy! The next morning he kept looking in the same spot and saying "chicken gone" over and over. He even took my mom to his little spot and showed her that the chicken was gone.

I hope he isn't terrified of chickens now. He's still loving his chicken nuggets though!

Gavin - 2 months

I can't believe how big our baby is getting. He is so much fun! We love going thru all of the many different milestones with Gavin... such as: smiling (at 4-5 weeks) and giggling (first time was on his 2 month birthday). He still sleeps most of the day, but when he's awake he is very alert and active... well, as active as a 2 month old should be :) He loves laying under his little hanging toys- he just kicks, moves his arms, and coo's. He absolutely loves the bath...

He. Is. Adorable.
He is a very smiley boy- he will smile at just about anyone! He absolutely loves his daddy- he has the biggest smile as soon as he sees Bobby.
He loves his mommy, too... see!

He loves to look at Brody- I can already tell that they will be best friends. Brody loves his baby brother. He always wants to lay by Gavin, or tells me to put Gavin next to him.

I took him to his 2 month check-up yesterday and here are his stats: (7-1-09)
weight: 11 lbs 15 oz (50th %)
length: 23.25 in. (57th %)
head: 15.4 in. (27th %)
His doctor is very pleased with his growth. He is growing consistently and looking great!! He has a little white dot on the end of his tongue that is a cyst. The Dr says it will just fall off. He got a few of his immunizations as well- he cried. I almost cried. :( I hate it when they have to get shots. I am doing his imm's little slower- I'll have him immunized by 2, but won't get 5 shots all at once. His Dr is fine with me doing that. I love his Dr- he's awesome!!
We love you Gavin, and are so thankful to have you in our family! Happy 2 month birthday!!
