Speaking of Benjamin...

Brody told my Mom recently about his friend "Ben". He told her that his last name was "ja-min". Ben-jamin. He kills me! I love the way kids think!

Seriously...

we're not racist (one of my BFF's is black, well brown, but you get the point!)

Today at Arden B (clothing store) a black girl was ringing up my clothes and talking to Brody:

Girl: How old are you?
Brody: (holds up 3 fingers)
Girl: you're 3?! wow!
Brody: (shakes his head yes)
Me: Can you tell her your name?
Brody: (shakes his head no)
Me: :) Tell her your name, silly!
Brody: No! She looks too dark!

Luckily this nice girl didn't take offense to my 3 year olds comment, she thought it was pretty funny! I talk about wanting to be dark alot- especially during the summer, so I think that's where he came up with that idea! My bad!

Funny

Bobby just came out of our bedroom laughing. This is what was so funny:

Brody: where are you going?
Bobby: to take the movie back.
Brody: oh! mommy's going to babysit?

While I'm on here...

I just had to log on to invite some friends to the blog (Shout out to Kev and Mindy!!). I decided I would let you all know that I am still a blogger! Woot woot! And, I have some major catching up to do... as you know, I consider this thing my journal! I will get on and update soon... promise! Lots of pictures from our fun, finally warm, summer!! We've been keeping busy in the sun!

On a side note: I bought a new bathing suit today. Love it! I also bought a cute beach hat (or, pool hat since I live... well, not even close to a beach) anyway, when Bobby got home from work I decided to try on my new little ensemble for him and as I was putting on the hat Brody shouted "Oh!! You look... like a cowboy! You should ride a horse!" Hilarious kid, I tell ya! Hilarious!

{TroUbLE}

Bobby and I (mainly Bobby) folded all of the white laundry and today Gavin got ahold of the nice organized basket that I had yet to put away. He was quiet for about 1 minute (yes, after 1 minute, I figured he must be getting into something) so I went into my bedroom and found him throwing out all of the clothes! Look at that grin!!

Brody talk

We say the word "shut up" in our house. But in our house the word "shut up" = "no way!!"

I know. It's not something we're proud of saying, it just happens. I think it was started by me. My bad! I say it a lot when I'm shocked. Usually to Bobby. Bobby does the same, apparently...

My mom told me that Brody said "shut up" and then looked at her and said " I no need say shut up anymore, only daddy say shut up when he watching golf"

I thought it was hilarious that he said that! We have been trying not to say it as much, and we're trying to teach Brody not to say it- even though he usually doesn't say it to be rude. He occasionally does that, and yes, he gets in trouble for doing so.

It's crazy how we don't realize what we are saying until we hear it being repeated by our 3 year old!

Another Funny by Brody

Brody and I were downstairs playing Badminton and he kept asking me what the game was called. I told him it was called Badminton. He didn't quite get it- it is a pretty weird name! After a while of him asking what the game was called, I finally said "remember when you saw tennis on TV yesterday? That's kind of how this game is... but they use a tennis ball." Great explanation, right?
Ten minutes later Gavin woke up from his nap and I told Brody I had to go get him. Brody's response?
"you go get brother and then come back and play not tennis?"
Exactly!!

Church Lately:

While we were in St. George 2 weeks ago we went to Sacrament meeting at the church by the condo. Right before the opening prayer Brody started ordering Cafe Rio from a Hymn book. He kept saying "rice, beans, tortilla... rice and beans" Bobby told him to be quiet but he kept ordering so Bobby picked him up to take him out. Apparently, Brody wasn't finished ordering so as Bobby was carrying him out he YELLED, "TORTILLAAAAA!!!!". I couldn't help but hide my face and laugh.

Yesterday in Nursery during singing time Brody decided to make up his own song. While singing "popcorn popping" he danced around singing "BYU... BYU". Where do kids come up with this stuff??

Also yesterday: we had a long day on Saturday (3 parties), didn't get to bed until midnight and didn't want to wake the boys up too early so we slept in and went to the 1:00 sacrament meeting. We sat in the very back (it's a HUGE ward) and Brody started to dribble and shoot a fake basketball into the hoop up above him. He then spotted a Lightning McQueen book about 5 rows ahead of us. He made his way over to the lady with the cool book and sat by her to look at it. I went to get him and she said we could take it back with us. After the sacrament I told Brody to take the book back. I watched him as he stood by her still holding the book. I went up to him, took the book, which he then knocked out of my hands, I bent over to pick it up, handed it to the nice lady right as he SMACKED my BUTT! It was so loud and everyone around saw it. I tried not to laugh as I walked back towards Bobby but I noticed he was laughing, too. I asked him if he saw what happened and he told me "no, but i saw that everyone else was laughing!" How nice!

Today-

I saw Brody playing with the memory card to my camera. When I went to put the camera away I noticed it was still open and missing the card... I showed it to Brody and asked where it went? He told me it was in the garbage. I was shocked and started to dig thru the (not so full-thank goodness!) garbage and guess what was right at the bottom?? Yep! My memory card. I'm so glad he's able to tell me where things are. He has quite the memory! I'm also glad that I asked him where it was before I lost it for good!!!

.........

I gave both of the boys a bottle and laid them down next to each other on the floor. I went upstairs for a minute and heard Brody say "Gavin's drinking my bottle!". I headed back downstairs to find Gavin's bottle empty and Brody's bottle in his hands. Brody tried to take it away but Gav just got mad so we let him finish Brody's bottle too. He loved it. *It was Goat's milk, so it wasn't a big deal for him to have it* :)

Do I have TWO babies??

I think so! And, yes, he has Gavin's binky in his mouth.

The Library, again

This time was much better!

I took the boys to Story time this morning and Brody L-O-V-E-D it! He had an absolute blast! While we were listening to the stories, Brody (bless his sweet little attention span) decided to swing at two fake golf balls, say "peace out dude" while holding up two peace signs, and sing "Tonight's gonna be a good good night, WAHOO!"

He always makes me laugh. He is my little clone.

After the stories, we went outside where he began running with all of the other kids- I'm so glad I took him. He had a great time! He found a friend who enjoyed playing tackle with him, so that was good! I usually have to tell him not to tackle people... BOYS! They're a blast!

Another funny story- about the same song that he just loves to sing :)

During nursery singing time on Sunday, he stood up in the middle of the circle (while we were singing "once there was a snowman") and busted out "tonight's gonna be a good good night, wahoo!" he loves that song and sings it at any chance he gets. It was a nice little concert, but we need to work on when it's appropriate to bust out in song! Wish me luck!

A public note... two, for that matter!

Dear man at the library,

I don't exactly appreciate the looks you gave me as my child was screaming at the top of his lungs today. I was only in the library to pick up the book "Parenting the Strong-Willed Child". Could you tell? And, I noticed you were with two kids of your own. Sure, they were much older than my 2-year-old, but still... you've been in my spot before, I'm sure.

I'm sure you were aware that I was trying my best to calm him down and tell him to be quiet. It seemed a lot harder this time, probably because my son just KNEW we were in a SILENT place. Doesn't it always work like that? You laugh harder when you shouldn't be laughing at all? It's natural. Really!

So, unkind sir, in the future if you happen to be at a library and a mother's child decides to have a tantrum in the kids area, maybe, just maybe, think to yourself, "hey! that mom is doing her best. Perhaps I could give her a nice smile or nod implying that it's ok. I've been there before! You'll be fine." I'm just sayin'...

Regards,

Erica

Dear lady at the library,

Unlike the man, who was a father himself, you knew what I was going thru. Thank you so very much for the sweet pat-on-the-shoulder and for telling me "fun times" with a smile on your face! It meant the world to me!!

Sincerely,

Erica

He takes after his mama!

Brody is asleep on the couch right now and I just heard him yell:

"I want it! I want it! PLEASE!" Over and over again. It was so funny, yet sad at the same time. What does he want? He sounded a little frustrated... does he want a churro? The cute little wooden house at Costco? A new blender? (ok- I want that last one!)

Can you tell where we spent our afternoon?!

Funny Boy!

Brody's conversation with the worker at the bank (the place he thought we were going to eat dinner!):

Worker: Hi! What's your name?
Brody: Brody James McGuire Fourteen

(He has a BYU jersey that says MCGUIRE on the back with the number 14, so he thinks it's part of his name! Also, if we ask him what Gavin's name is, or mom or dad's name, he says Gavin James McGuire 14... Daddy James McGuire 14... etc.)

Worker: Oh! That's a cute name :) How old are you?
Brody: SIX!!!! (yells it!)
Worker: Six?! WOW! Are you in school?
Brody: Yeah!
Worker: Do you do math and reading??
Brody: No
Worker: Oh. Do you study the fine arts of play-doh?
Brody: yeah!

Then, she gave him a sticker and asked where he wanted to put it... on his arm? his shirt? He said "my shoe!!"

He is always entertaining me! I had to call Bobby and tell him about this conversation - it was too funny! I love when kids make things up... like their age! They come up with the funniest stuff!

That's right!

I'm already taking pictures for Brody's wedding video! (Of course, by that time, technology will be out the roof and there will something much cooler than a wedding video!)

He has been walking around the house since he got out of the bath (20 minutes ago) in my boots. He even kicked a football in them. Nothing fazes this kid!

OH! What a CUTE BUM!

The boys are asleep and my house is...

SPOTLESS!

Well, minus a few things that need to be folded- but I've been cleaning ALL day long, that i thought I deserved a little rest! RIGHT?

Bobby's going to go crazy when he walks in the door tonight. He LOVES a clean house. Don't get me wrong, I keep it pretty clean, but with 2 little boys (one that's extremely active) it doesn't always get the complete makeover. It did today! And, I can't wait to hear Bobby's excitement! I can hear it now... "BABE! The house looks great! *Kiss**Kiss* I love a clean house! THANK YOU!"

You're welcome, baby!

Anyway...

I think I'm getting arthritis. In my right thumb. From texting. Not kidding- it's hurting this very minute as I type and I saw something today on "The Doctors" saying that people have been getting arthritis. From texting. FREAKY!

Brody is a fun, cute little boy. He loves me!! I Love him!! He still loves his sports and I hope that never changes! He has quite the legs for kicking. He's darn good! He is funny, funny! Every time we go to the store, he looks at the price tag on an item and tells me "2 bucks!". Yesterday, I was at the REAL team store, and he handed the worker a soccer ball, got into my wallet, pulled out my debit card, and handed that to the worker to pay for it! I'm so glad he knows how to spend my money :) Today while i was doing the dishes I heard a crash in the living room. I left the water running (big deal!) and ran over to see what had happened... I saw Brody in between the Christmas tree and the couch. He was fine. He had fallen off the side of the couch into the tree. We laughed! why not?! It was fun!

Last week Brody was in my bathroom with me while I was getting ready. I had just gotten him out of the bath and was doing his hair so he was sitting on my counter in his towel. He looked at me and said "i have to pee". Before I knew it, he was sitting over the sink peeing. Where he comes up with this stuff, I'll never know!

Gavin is getting big! He loves me, too!! I love him, too!! LOVE MY BOYS! He still says mama, especially during the night. This makes for an easy excuse from Bobby, "babe, he's calling for YOU."
Gavin likes to roll all around on the floor. He ends up in a million different spots within minutes. He's so happy and smiles at everyone. He is absolutely adorable and people just love him!

Funny, funny Brody

Lately, if we tell Brody NOT to do something, his reply is:

(while doing thumbs up, he bends his right elbow and points it behind him-fast!... you really have to see it, but it's hil-ar-i-ous! I'm trying to catch it on video)

"I wanna do THIS!"

Don't ask where he came up with it, because I HAVE NO CLUE! All I know is that every time he does it we BUST UP LAUGHING!

knock, knock, knock...

Funny story:

Last night we were on our way to dinner and were stopped at a light before getting onto the freeway. (not stopped by a cop!) As we were waiting for the light to turn green we heard a knock at our window (it was dark outside, and we were NOT at a place where people should be standing, let alone knocking on our car window!) We looked over and could see that someone was standing outside holding shoes! Bobby opened the door and a guy handed him Brody's Nike's and said "these were on your bumper!". We cracked up! We could not stop laughing all night! I couldn't believe I had left his shoes on the back of our car AND we were absolutely AMAZED that they hadn't fallen off. By that point... Bobby had made a U-turn, went around a "round-a-bout", made 2 right turns, and gone up a slight hill! Good shoes, huh?! We are so thankful that someone stopped to bring them to us before they fell off and were lost for good! (they had Brody's orthotics in them- that would NOT have been good!) MY BAD!
