April 2010- The "zoom"

My in-laws got season passes to the zoo this year so we've been a few times. Brody loves it! Gavin has a fun time looking at all of the animals and pointing at them. Kids make everything so much more fun!
We've been on the carousel a couple of times and every time we get on Brody picks the same seat- the peacock that is a bench and doesn't move at all. He's so funny!

April 2010- Brody's First T-ball game

Brody had a blast playing T-ball this spring! He was on the Diamond backs. He had 6 games (or so?) the weather wasn't the best in April/May so about half of his games were either canceled or very cold. It was still a lot of fun watching him play!
He had a hard time getting the hang of the game at first- whenever another player on his team got ahold of the ball in the outfield he would go and tackle them. He thought of it like football :) He learned quickly that you don't tackle in baseball.
He also enjoyed playing in the dirt while in the outfield. While he was in the dugout he would climb the fence. He's a busy, fun little boy!
During the last few games his coach would pitch the ball to the kids instead of having them hit it off of the T. He loved it and did a great job!
He loved getting a ticket after the game to go pick out a treat at the snack bar. His favorite things to get were: hot dogs, laffy taffy, ring pops, chips, and drinks!
We can't wait until next spring to start T-ball again!!

Brody,

I'm so proud of you!! (I tell you this all the time, and you love it!) I think it's important for you to know how awesome you are :) especially coming from your mama!!

We were reading a bedtime book tonight (Bernstein Bears... afraid of the dark) and you happened to notice the bears cool bunk bed. You told me you wanted one, which I already knew! You climbed all over them at R.C. Willey a couple of months ago! After you reminded me of wanting a bunk bed I decided to make a deal with you.

I told you that if you went to bed on your own in your own room (for 30 days!) I would buy you a bunk bed (Dad was at school, so hopefully he's cool with it!). YOU DID IT!! And, I AM SO PROUD OF YOU!!

Keep it up and you'll be in your new bunk bed "with a ladder" in no time!!

We love you, Bubbas!!

***Brody started sleeping in our bed when he was only 8 months old. I was desperate. For sleep. He is now 3 years and 2 months and for the first time ever has fallen asleep ON HIS OWN. I have always had to lay by him until he was asleep (unless he was in the car). I learned my lesson and now Gavin is a great sleeper! I will never do that again! Although, I do love to snuggle with my sweet boys!! Also, Brody just barely got rid of his bottle a few weeks ago. I know- I was bad with his habits! I have to learn somehow, right? Too bad I just didn't listen to people. It would've been so much easier- he only had it at bedtime. And, I'm only putting this stuff on the blog so that I can remember it!!!

... Pants on Fire

Today Brody experienced his very first lie.

I told him he could golf/putt in the garage since it was too cold to go outside. I was inside for a minute with Gavin when I heard a loud thump! I went out to the garage to find Brody with wide eyes. I asked him what happened (I figured he hit my car... by the sound of it) but he said "nothing" happened. I asked him what happened again and once more he said "nothing". (I remember thinking my Mom always knew when I was lying- which made me never do it... Now that I'm a mom, it's pretty darn easy to figure out! Plus, my Mom's just plain awesome). So, As I asked him what happened again, he said "nothing... the tire... nothing". After I got it out of him that he hit the tire (I mean, he did give it away when he was trying so hard to tell me nothing happened) I told him it wasn't good to lie. I explained that I wouldn't have been mad if he had told me the truth, but since he didn't tell me the truth, he had to go sit inside for a minute.

I really wanted him to understand what had happened- I know it wasn't a huge deal-but he's never straight up lied to me. It was a sad milestone, if you will! :) I sat him on my lap and told him that next time he just needs to tell me what happened and I won't be upset if he tells me the truth. I won't be happy if he hits my car, but the punishment will be a lot more mild if he is honest. ** This goes for everything, not just golfing by my car!

Yesterday

Gavin had a big day yesterday!

He loves to play basketball with Brody whenever they're in the bath. Gavin usually stands up and "dunks" the ball in the hoop while Brody shoots it from the corner of the bathtub. Yesterday Gavin noticed what his brother was doing and began trying to shoot the ball. This was his first time actually meaning to throw a ball!! It was so fun to see him doing this.

Yesterday while I was feeding him lunch he started to shake his head "no" when he was done. He almost looked like he was dancing!! It was pretty funny. I let him shake his head and then tried to feed him again to make sure he was really done. He had a few more bites then started to shake his head "no" again. I stopped after that - he was full!

Yesterday I was holding him up so he could walk with me in the living room. He didn't want to take any steps with me so I let go of him thinking he would just sit but he ended up standing there on his own for about 5 seconds. Now, I know 5 seconds doesn't seem like a big deal, but when you're baby is doing something like that for the first time, 5 seconds seems like forever! It was so exciting to see him do that!

I'm so proud of him! He keeps growing more and more every day and he's so much fun to watch. We love him! Good job, baby!

Happy Birthday, Gavi-boo-boo!

Gavin,

Today you are one! We can hardly believe it.
You are such a happy baby! You smile at everyone you meet- just recently you've started to "act" like you're shy (rarely) and turn your head into your shoulder and smile. You're always smiling. People comment on you everywhere we go, they say you are such a happy baby and ask if you are always like that? I tell them yes!

You love your big brother and like to chase him around the house. He loves you too. You light up anytime you see him and want to be wherever he is. You enjoy crawling around while hitting golf balls with a club- you're starting early! You also like to play "bathketball" in the tub with Brody. You sure can dunk!

You are our little piggy. You love to eat and will eat just about anything! You really like sweet potatoes and bananas. You also love treats! You are an awesome sleeper. Thank you! :)

You love your Daddy and light up whenever he walks in the door. You kick your legs when you get excited. I love it! You say "mama" and "dada" and you're working really hard on "uh-oh!" Anytime we say "uh-oh" you say "uh...." you'll get it. You love to clap and do it so well. You like to cheer Brody on when he's at his soccer games. You're such a good brother.

We love you and hope you have a wonderful birthday!

Brody's FIRST T-ball game (4/18/2010)

Brody had a blast at his first T-ball game last Saturday! There are 12 kids on his team and each kid got to hit the ball twice during the game. He is the only three year old on his team. He did so well at his game! By the end he was playing in the dirt at each base. The kids each got 2 tickets to go get the treats they wanted from the snack bar, he also got a free hot dog! It was the perfect t-ball day! nice and warm! We're keeping him busy with all of these sports and he couldn't be happier! He is number 3! His fan club consisted of Mom, Dad, Nana, Grandpa, Grandma, Grandpa, Gavin, Uncle Evan, Kaitlin, Aunt Nat Nat, McCoy! He loves to have people watch him!

Brody's FIRST soccer game! (4/13/2010)

Brody had a blast at his first soccer game! There are six kids on his team and he has two awesome coaches! He is the youngest on his team-he's the only 3 year old, everyone else is 4 or 5. He is doing well! He's never played on a team before so he's getting use to playing a sport with other kids. Throughout the game he kept looking over at us and giving us thumbs up!! He would also stop and smile for my camera. He's so cute and so much fun to watch! He gets a little distracted (he gets that from his mommy) and everyone had to yell his name to get his attention. haha! By the end of the game, everyone knew Brody. He is number 4. This game was freezing, so when it was his turn to sit out he bundled up in the blanket! We all took a nice warm bath when we got home!

I LOVE YOU TOO!

Last night we were watching "amazing race" so I put Brody on one couch to lay down while Bobby and I were on the other. Brody was telling me to come and lay by him but I told him that I was going to sit by Daddy. He then said in the cutest little voice "come lay by me... I love you!" I couldn't believe my ears! He tells me he loves me all the time (when I say it to him), but this was the first time he said it by himself. I loved it! The rest of the night he kept saying "I love you too"... I tried to tell him he didn't need to say "too", but I don't even care! I love that he loves me :)

I love him, too!

Brody's first dental exam!!

Today, Brody went to his FIRST Dental exam! (Well, his first was technically in my mom's bathroom last week when she was just playing around, but this one was OFFICIAL!)

He did a great job! He layed on me in the chair while we watched Disney Channel on the ceiling. He loved it! He has NO cavities!! YAY!

He loves to look at teeth with the little mirrors. He wants to be a Dentist too! The other day I asked him what he wanted to be when he grows up and he said "nana!". haha!!

My mom did check his bite and found that he has a "cross bite" meaning his bottom teeth (on his right side) go out farther than the ones on top. His left side was fine, but his right side we need to keep an eye on. If it doesn't go away by the time he starts to get his adult teeth (at age 6) we'll have to do ortho. (Am I right, Mom?!)
