Catching up..

Well, our power went out on Friday and it messed up our internet. So, today I just messed with it and got it working again! Cool! But, since our internet wasn't working, I haven't been able to put up a post lately. This is what's been going on..

On Thursday, Karli came into town and we went out to lunch. (For those of you who don't know her, we were best friends throughout Jr. High and High School.) She now lives in LA and was in Cedar City for the week- she drove up to Provo, where we met for a few hours. It was fun seeing her. We hadn't seen eachother since February! WOW!

Friday, Bobby's grandma passed away. She was in an Assisted Living center, and was such a sweet lady! She had a stroke a while back and was left unable to speak. Although she couldn't say much, you could always see her happiness when you walked into her room. I'm so glad we had the opportunity to serve her for these past couple of years. It truly humbles you. We will miss her dearly. (I need to find the picture of her holding Brody. I'm not sure who took it?Kristen, does your mom have a copy?)

Last night, Brody was having fun watching videos on our computer. Bobby started to play some that we had taken of Brody on our camera. He absolutely loved it!! It was the funniest thing to sit there and watch him just look at himself. He was wiggling and smiling. He knows he's the coolest kid on the block! Every time the video would end, he would start to laugh. We were cracking up! He's too funny!

Just some cute pictures! This is one that I got while he was in his crib. He wakes up in the morning and just plays. I had to be a little sneaky, because he was holding on to the crib and I wanted his hand to stay there.

We were at our friend's house and they have this little Bumboo seat. (I think that's what it's called) He liked it! It helps baby's sit up correctly. NICE!

Happy 24th of July!

Yesterday we went to Bobby's parents house for a family BBQ (24th of July!!). Great food!! My mother-in-law got a recipe for chicken and ribs by Tony Roma's.. MMM.. so good! I made Potato Salad, and we had home made ice cream. It was a fun little party. When we got home, we kept peeking out of Brody's bedroom window to see if the Lagoon Fireworks were going.. They didn't end up shooting them off until 10:00. It was so much fun, and we had the best seats in the house! We could see them perfectly from his window.(the picture was taken from our home seats!) Bobby sat on my big green chair with Brody and I sat comfortably on the floor next to them. We opened the window so we could hear them- not too loud- and we ate Astro Pops! (Posicles, for those who haven't heard of them. I never did until I moved up to Utah.) It was a fun evening! Brody loved to look at them, too.

Just a cute picture! Brody was playing in his bouncer and had pulled off the little yellow ring that goes on the monkey toy. When I looked at him, he had dropped/placed (I'm not sure how it got there) the yellow ring on his face. This is what I got..

In addition to..

The sweetest sound post.. I think I may have found a runner up in this catagory. I was upstairs getting ready to go to a family BBQ last night, when all of a sudden I heard Bobby singing "I am a child of God" to Brody. It was so sweet. Bobby doesn't know this, but I just sat there and listened. He then began to sing the song in Spanish. (I don't know Spanish, but I do know the tune of the song!) I don't think anything can compare to your husband singing such a wonderful song to your baby! I love you Bobby!

The Sweetest Sound

I love it when Brody laughs! It's the absolute best thing to watch Bobby play with him and hear him start to giggle. At the end of June, I was playing with Brody and he let out one little giggle. It was the cutest thing, but he looked at me like he was confused. It was like he had no clue how it happened! Since then, we've been trying to get him to laugh. He would do it every so often, but it wasn't until recently that he started to be consistent with it. He loves to laugh now, and his Mommy and Daddy love to hear it!! He's just too darn cute! (By the way.. about the picture of Bobby and Brody.. I accidentally got the string from my camera in the way. :( I'll have to get another picture later!!)

Last night, Bobby and I went to the Jewel concert. It was so much fun! She was in Deer Valley (Park City) with the Utah Symphony Orchestra. We left Brody with Grandma and Grandpa McGuire- our second date alone! We're getting use to this. It's nice to go out once in a while with just each other. Bobby's office volunterers at these concerts every summer, so we get in for free. We went to it last year and it was Kenny G. It's such a fun atmosphere. You just sit on a grassy hill and watch the concert. We brought blankets, dinner, and mosquito repellant!! (That's a must). What a fun date!! I love my sweet hubby!

P.S

I'm not sure if there will ever really be a "Quote of the DAY".. I like the banana quote way too much to change it. Maybe I will sometime!

What a night!

You know how I set my fire alarm off by my nice broiling? Well, last night at about 1:00 AM, it went off again. So scary to be woken up by such a noise. Bobby jumped up with both of his arms out and said ah! It wasn't such an "ah" like a scream, but more like a scared man "ah". If you can understand that. I woke up and kinda pushed him down and said "it's ok". (I was thinking it was a part of my dream) we were so out of it! The alarm only went off for about 5 seconds.. who knows what happened? I reset the alarms this afternoon. They were both blinking- now there's just a solid green light. I'm guessing they just needed to be reset/tested. Boy was that scary! We've been laughing about our reactions all day- it's pretty funny (now that it's over)!

And, I just have to add one of the cutest pictures ever! Well, it's really just a pretty cool banner.. It says, "The Brody is back!" We saw it while we were on our way to a wedding reception for Bobby's cousin. I'm not quite sure who they are talking about or where he came back from, but it has a Superman sign on it. It's too cool!

Tagged..

I've been tagged. I never knew what it meant until I read Kristen's blog- she's been tagged a couple of times. I thought it looked like fun and it's a great way for people to learn more about you, so thanks Kristen! I have to write down 7 interesting facts about myself, and then tag others as well, who will then do the same thing. So here goes! Here are 7 things you might not know quite yet about Erica McGuire... Enjoy!

1- I only have 3 front bottom teeth. Not really ONLY 3, but 3 of the 4. Who knows what happened? I think the Dentist said that I lost my tooth as a child, but never had a root for my adult tooth. I'm actually thankful that it never came in! I think having that tooth gone, prevented me from ever having to get braces!! It would have been way too squishy in there for one more tooth.

2- I love being pregnant and giving birth. Seriously. It's that simple. I had a great pregnancy, labor, and delivery. I would do it over and over again! Besides, the baby's the absolute best part of the entire process!

3- I use only my teeth to get food off of spoons. I hate putting my whole mouth around it... don't know why? I just don't like it. You might need to see it to understand, but I don't think Bobby likes it.

4- I'm recovering from the fear of sharing. Sounds funny, but I absolutely hated sharing for the longest time. I don't think it was until I got married that I was ok with sharing a drink with Bobby. Now, him and my mom are basically the only ones I will share with. I'm not mean, I just don't like germs!

5- There are only 2 lip glosses that I've ever loved. The first was from FAO Schwartz toy store. It was a BARBIE brand, but it was the prettiest pink. I haven't been able to find it since high school and am quite upset. The second is "MAC lip glass" in the color "prrr". Bobby puts it in my stocking every Christmas. Such a sweet guy! I've read that it's Paris Hilton's favorite also, pretty cool, huh!?

6- I have a pet peeve with toilet paper. I hate when the toilet paper is put on upside down. When I say upside down, I mean when the part that you pull out comes from underneath. I have to have it on top going around towards me. Does that make sense? I bet all of you who read this will think of it the next time you go to the bathroom!

7- I absolutely LOVE Christmas. I will start listening to Christmas music in September. Bobby thinks I'm crazy!! It's just such a happy time. I wish we lived in Whooville so it could be Christmas all year round!!

Now, I'm tagging Emily, Haylee, and Kris to post 7 interesting facts about themselves!

"Fire..Fire"

While we were down in Vegas, my mom loved to BBQ. We would go out swimming, while hot dogs, hamburgers, and chicken were on the grill - Take your pick! It was so yummy! So, I decided that for dinner last night, I would try to do my own little BBQ. We have a grill, but haven't gotten a propane tank for it yet- and I didn't feel like cleaning the George Foreman afterwards, so I decided to Broil the hamburgers. I made them with my own two hands- no frozen pre-made patties in this house! (By the way, this was my very first time doing hamburgers) I turned on the broiler, got the corn on the cob cooking, the baked beans, etc. and put the burgers in. They were putting out a lot of grease that was popping all over, but I didn't think anything of it, so I put them from the middle shelf in the oven, to the top shelf- I wanted them to cook faster! I have a gas stove/oven. Not a good idea. Since the fire was right above the burgers, and they were spitting grease balls, it made the stove start to smoke. Then, to our surprise, the fire alarm went off!!! Ahhh... our alarm is extremely loud, and after a few beeps, a lady comes on and says "fire, fire" It was pretty crazy. So, now I have smoke coming out of my oven, my beans and corn still cooking, un- cooked hamburgers, and my fire alarm going crazy. We opened up doors and windows, and it finally went off. Brody was just looking around the whole time. No crying! Wow! Well, since the alarm went off, I decided to just put the burgers back on the middle shelf. Bobby thought I was crazy! To make matters worse, the burgers ended up being too small for our buns- they were fat, but too small around- if you can imagine that! And, I burnt the cheese on top. What a dinner. Next time, I'm going to someone else's BBQ. No more at my house!!

Loves toys...

And playing the piano!

Sad Baby

It started Sunday evening. We had just gotten home from cousin Peter's baby blessing, which was wonderful! I got Brody out of his car seat and he began to cry. I tried everything to get him to be happy, but nothing worked. He finally settled down, and was fine for the rest of the night. The next evening, the same thing happened, crying, crying, crying. Bobby and I both tried to calm him down, but again, nothing worked. He woke up every hour that night- (I know, he didn't sleep thru the night, but he doesn't feel good- note: my blog about a good night's sleep!!) Poor little guy! Anyway, I ended up calling his Doctor yesterday morning, and they wanted me to take him in to get checked for a possible ear infection. The Dr had to clean out his ears in order to see inside (his ear canals are little). - I do clean his ears, just not inside- She cleaned out his right ear, and got out some normal ear wax, but when she cleaned out his left ear she got some wet, white, smelly ear wax. She said that it looked like a perferated ear drum (ruptured). How sad. He hated being at the dr. She gave me a prescripton for him. He's doing much better today, and only woke up a few times during the night. The nurse said the pressure is now gone, so the pain isn't too bad anymore. That's wonderful!! His medicine was all over his face - Silly, silly boy!

Good Night's Sleep!

Bobby's cousin Kristen recently posted a blog saying that her baby slept thru the night for the first time. I posted a comment saying that every time I admit to figuring out Brody's schedule- he changes! Of course, this might jinx me, but I just have to say that Brody slept thru the night for the first time on Friday, and then once again last night. I hope it sticks- although waking up just once isn't too bad either.. especially since he'll sleep in until 9:30. He's such a good baby! He wakes up and plays in his crib until I go in. So much fun! Also, he recently started to grab his feet, play with his toys, laugh, and has rolled over a couple of times. WOW! What a great accomplishment for the little guy. We're excited for him!!

Brody says: Happy 4th of July!

Bananas

Bobby loves the "quote of the day" and I just have to say I put that one up especially for him. I have some bananas in my freezer.. who knows why?.. I thought you were supposed to put them in there if you ever wanted to make banana bread. Anyway, every time Bobby opens the freezer he comments on how "good" the bananas look. (They are dark brown and definately frozen) I'm sure he thinks I'm crazy for keeping them in there. Who knows, maybe I'll be making some banana bread soon- he'll like that!

Blogging..

I finally did it! I created a blog for myself. I love reading everyone else's blog, but I thought it would be fun to start writing my own! I look at it as keeping a little "journal" - which I need to be better at - but I sure think this counts! Don't you? Well, we just got back from our Vegas Vacation to my parents house! All we did for a whole week was lay out and go swimming! Seriously, that was basically our vacation, but it was so nice. We did go out a few times, saw a movie, and went shopping. Of Course!! You HAVE to go shopping while on vacation. And, when I say shopping, I really mean for Brody. Babies are just too much fun to buy for- besides, you don't feel as guilty because the clothes are so cheap! (Hint: Go to the outlets). Speaking of feeling guilty- I do have a confession.. While down in Vegas, Bobby and I took our first night out alone.. I mean, really alone. No baby in the back seat. It was really nice to just go to dinner and talk, talk, talk. Not that a 4 month old baby really interrupts our conversations or anything, but still, leaving Brody wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I really enjoyed it. We'll be calling on Grandma and Grandpa more often!
