Hey, Look Aunt Mandy!!

I have tan HANDS and FEET!!! (YAY!)

For those of you who are a little confused (basically everyone EXCEPT for Aunt Mandy) I once told her that all I wanted was TAN hands and feet. Silly, I know, but that's my favorite part about being tan! I love it! (She still makes fun of me! In a loving way, of course!) :) I Love you Aunt Mandy!!

It's times like this...

when I just shake my head and think... "how in the world did this happen?"

It also makes me realize that we are constantly watched over and protected- ESPECIALLY our little ones.

Brody is a very active boy and has no fear. He is a little climber and a very flexible, skinny one at that! He has to be strapped into anything and everything possible to prevent him from escaping- or so we thought.

On Tuesday morning (7.8.08) Brody woke up at 7:30 AM. (The morning before, he slept until 11:30- big difference! So, I jumped in his crib with him) (YES! I sleep in his crib sometimes- I'll do another post on that.) but, he didn't want to go back to sleep. I was exhausted so I decided to put him in his swing, that is in our room, and turn on "tartoons" for him to watch. I got in my bed and fell asleep at about 7:45. At 9:00 AM I woke up to Brody standing next to my bed throwing my phone at the wall. I was in SHOCK!!!

How did he get out?! He was completely STRAPPED in the swing. Anyway, I'm not COMPLETELY surprised that he got out of the swing, I've seen him do stuff like that quite a bit. The thing I don't get is how he got out of the swing, onto the floor by HIMSELF, without making a thump, getting hurt, or making a peep. I mean, the swing is not stable, there is no obvious way of how he could have done such a thing... AND it's all still BUCKLED. WOW! My point - is that I am extremely grateful to my Father in Heaven for watching over my baby while I was just trying to get some rest. I am in awe over the whole situation. (Not mad, just thankful for the little miracle!) I'm glad he's so active, but sometimes I wish he was a little more cautious! HA! How do you teach a one year to be CAUTIOUS?!

P.S. he's no longer allowed to be in his swing in our room alone. Thank goodness I shut my bedroom door behind us- or he would have wandered on downstairs alone! Oh boy!!

Fourth of July!

It all started on Thursday night, when my parents came up from Sandy and spent the night at our house. That's right! We had a sleepover! Brody woke up the next morning (and almost every morning after that) saying ''Namma, Gampa..." we got ready Friday morning, planning to go to the Kaysville breakfast- but heard there wasn't much to choose from, so we ended up going to Granny Annies! yummy pancakes and scones!! Mmmm... After that we met my Sister Danielle and her husband Eric with their little boy Braxton for the Parade! It was a fun parade and the boys loved it! Right after D and her family left, a little boy was run over by one of the floats during the water fights. (Kaysville always does a water fight at the end of the parade on Main street and the people watching bring their squirt guns and try to get the firetrucks wet. It was a mess- as you can see.) So, I guess one of the kids (10 years old) fell off of the float he was on and got his legs run over. They life flighted him to the hospital but he is okay! It was very scary and it happened right in front of where we were. After that we went home to relax, but as Bobby knows- a little too well- I can't just relax. I wanted to get out- so we went to the mall for a couple of hours. Then, we came home, my mom and I made the BEST 4th of July cake ever, and we went to the Fireworks. Bobby and I went to the store and grabbed some soda and ice while my parents went to get some dinner at KFC. We met up at the park and had a picnic and then watched the Fireworks. Brody LOVED the fireworks! Every time they lit one off he would say "wow!" We just love him!!

On Saturday my parents, Bobby, Brody, and I all went to the Oakley rodeo. It was a lot of fun! Brody liked the horses, but it was a tight fit with all of those people on the bleachers, so we had a tough time keeping Brody occupied while having to be held for 2 1/2 hours. He does not like to sit still for very long- Sacrament meeting is hard enough!! (P.S. the pictures from the rodeo are on a different camera- so, if I remember, I'll post some later.)

Then, on Sunday, our friends Jon and Heather came up from Las Vegas to bless their baby girl, London. She's so adorable! They now have 3 CUTE kids!! I was able to take some family pictures for them after the blessing, and I had a blast!!
Here are some pictures from our fun weekend!!

Brody with the stuffed animal that Bobby caught for him from one of the Parade Floats. (Isn't he the best dad?!)

This picture cracks me up- Brody escaped us for 2 seconds and we looked over to find him sitting on someone's chair. Look at that face!! (If you can see it on this small picture!)

Family Photo!! (with some random dudes behind us!)

My favorite Float- it's just COOL! (big sexy hair)

Braxton clapping!

Aww... I love this picture of my two boys!

Watching the parade with Daddy!

Another one of my favorites: Brody dancing to the music of the parade. He stood there for a while just stomping his right foot to the beat- I have to say, he's pretty good at finding the beat and sticking with it. If he got off, he would pause until he was back on track!! Way to go!

At the Fireworks

Brody with a light stick- he loved it!

Brody poked a hole in through the saran wrap and was licking the whipped cream off of his finger.

Weee!!!

oh! I just LOVE them!! So handsome!

Our Monkey- Mr. Daredevil! Climbs onto everything!

Hot weather!

It's been in the mid 90's here and we LOVE it! We were out back eating popsicles yesterday, but Brody's just melted - as you can see. (popsicles don't last long in hot weather while being held practically upside down!) He started off in his clothes, then got them taken off to eat his popsicle, then came the sunscreen, then the bathing suit. We decided to get the hose and spray him a little out back, but the sprinklers came on (don't ask me why they come on during the hottest part of the day... ) but, the sprinklers kept getting me and bobby wet. So, we decided to go out front and let Brody cool down. I also wanted a chance to practice my photo skills! Yes, skills!! This is what our afternoon turned out to be-

In case you haven't seen this before- it's Brody's "crazy face"

CUTE little feetsies!

LOVE this little boy!

He loves the water!

FYI-

This is what we've been up to...

We got season passes to a nearby waterpark, which is so nice! We usually go up on Saturdays and when Bobby gets home from work. Brody absolutely LOVES it! We spand most of our time in the Lazy River- just floating on the tubes. After a while, we get out of the tubes and walk. Brody splashes like crazy! He loves the water. He's our little tan boy!

He loves playing on the chairs at the waterpark while we try and get some sun! He's a little monkey and climbs on the back of them. Wild boy!!

We are finally set up with our new desk (We originally ordered one, but then found one on sale that we were able to take home that night!) I put it together while B was at work! (I know, I'm a pretty awesome wife!) He did help with the finishing touches when he got home though!! This is how we started out-
And this is the finished project!! Not too shabby!
Also, Brody hit a few milestones! He now has one, maybe two, molars! He is talking a lot! He refers to things such as "light", "fan", "bread" (all of these in his own language of course!) But, he's doing so good! What a big boy we have! Speaking of big (I mean, little) He FINALLY hit the 20 pound mark!! Way to go Baby! I took him into the DR on Monday (June 16) for his 15 month well check and he was exactly 20.0 pounds! That is only the 5th percentile. He is also 30 and 3/4 inches long- 50th percentile. He isn't a big eater- which is funny because I was a chubby little thing who ate everything! Bobby, on the other hand, looked just like Brody when he was a baby - I guess I should say Brody looks like him! From the pictures that I've seen, they have the exact little body- so darn cute! I love my boys!!

"BAD"

Brody has quite the love for Vacuums. Every time we go into a store that has an isle of vacuums, he sees them and undoubtedly finds his way to them- even if we are a few isles away from them. He has ALWAYS loved vacuums, brooms, etc. And this love has not died down. It's so funny to see his reaction to vacuums that he sees. I will usually be walking thru a store, and all of a sudden he starts getting all excited. I look around, and sure enough, there is a VACUUM! Anyway, my Mom was over on Tuesday night and Brody started to go over to the closet where our vacuum is. He sat by the door saying "Bad, Bad". Bobby laughed and said he just started calling it that the day before when he saw them at Kohl's. I opened the door and he got so excited! I got out the vacuum and he followed me to where I was going to leave it for him to play with. He played for a little bit, and then made my mom get up and push it around while holding him ( Yes, I mean - MADE HER- He grabbed her hands and made a grunting noise until she stood up and then stood at her feet with his arms up saying "Uh, uh" - that means "up" ) She pushed the vacuum for a while and then said someone else needed to take the shift. I didn't want to push it, so I put it away. This made Brody so mad. He went and sat by the closet door crying.. "Baad, Baad" It was like the thing was his Best Friend. We felt bad, so Bobby went and got "bad" out again. Seeing the door open, but still crying, Brody said "Bad" with a tone of relief. It was the cutest thing! I love my little guy- he keeps me smiling! Since then, we've had "bad" out for a few play dates. It always keeps Brody busy!

Also, we just got a new computer, so I am happy to say that my Internet shall not fail! (Hopefully!) I love having a desktop (We had a laptop). But, we are still waiting for a desk- so until it arrives, the cardboard box that the computer came in is doing a great job!

Midnight...

Well, not quite. It's 11:38 PM and I'm sitting in bed next to my sweet, sleeping husband. Our computer decided to be lame (once again) and is not charging- SO, it's at the computer hospital getting fixed (hopefully!). Anyway, I am on my Mother-in-law's computer- THANKS DIANA!! You're a lifesaver! Bobby had something for work that needed to be done by 8 AM this morning, but our computer wasn't cooperating. So, we went to my in-laws and got one of their laptops because they are out of town right now. Diana told Bobby to just keep it here until they got home, so I'm able to get a little time to myself and do a little posting on a working computer! Well, Brody finally fell asleep - in his own bed! He has been in his room for the past half hour (surprisingly not crying too bad) and has just fallen asleep! Poor little guy. I hate having him upset, but sometimes I just need to put him in his bed and shut the door. Here's the rundown of what has been going on in the McGuire household...

It has been a whopping 2 weeks (in about 5 hours to be exact!) since I've nursed Brody. That's right! He is almost 15 months and I figured we better stop sooner than later. (cold turkey!)It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I was always told it would take 2-3 days to get him use to it, and it's true! That first night was tough, but he has hardly even asked for it since. (He's pulled at my shirt only a few times.) So, with us no longer nursing... you know what that means! No boobs! AND- no sleep! Brody hasn't taken a GOOD nap for 2 weeks! I never really nursed him to sleep, but it was a routine for him to eat and then go in his crib. Hence the midnight post! This is the first night that he isn't in OUR bed. Bobby needs some good sleep, and it's tough when you have a baby rolling into you. Now, I'm not a pro, but if anyone else is in the same situation with nursing- let me know! It's always nice to just have a little support from someone else who has gone thru it!
But, if anyone has any tips on how to get Brody in the routine of sleeping again- PLEASE! let me know!

Another BIG milestone is that Brody has added to his cute little vocabulary. (weird word!) On Sunday, Bobby taught him how to say "no!" How sweet! Thanks baby! I heard Bobby in the other room repeating the word to Brody, who would then copy his daddy. He is so darn cute when he says it... it's a NICE NO! Not quite the mean 2 year old NO!!! (yet!) AND! Last night, we were laying in bed with Brody, trying to get him to say his "new word" and he said "no more"- YAY! He said his FIRST 2 word sentence! After that, he said Night Night. I can't believe how fast these little ones learn! He's been talking so much the past couple of days... he also says Mom, Mama, Dadda, Daddo, Gamma, Gampa, and can say Roll it, Roll it for patty cake, etc. He's so much fun! I love him!

Well, it's 12:02 AM, and I better get some sleep before Brody gets up again! I'll post pictures and a video as soon as our computer is fixed! NIGHT NIGHT! :)
