Brody's hair and FHE

Whenever I put the soap in Brody's hair- he knows it! He loves it when it gets all bubbly. He will say "hair", meaning for me to make it into a Mohawk. He will then look at himself with a HUGE smile in the little silver mirror thing in the bathtub.
Here is a picture of our most recent masterpiece! Look at those curls!! I love them! *We haven't cut his hair since Oct. 2008*

On Monday, for part of Family Home Evening, we died Easter Eggs. Brody thought it was a blast to put on the stickers. He has since been putting them all over his arms and hands.

Egg that Daddy made. "McGuire Family 2009- Mommy, Daddy, Brody, Gavin" (That's what we are naming this little guy!)

Apple Cider Vinegar?

I have been having REALLY BAD heartburn with this little guy. I got it for the first time in my life while pregnant with Brody... the discomfort more in my chest. This time around, I get it all the way up into my throat and ears, and it KILLS!! It seriously feels like pins poking me inside. I was told to try 1 Tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar mixed in 1 cup of water and to sip on it during the day. I usually just chug the whole thing at once! It's gross, but what else can you do? The antacids aren't doing as good of a job as they use to. SAD! So, the other night I was in need of my mixture- (I usually only do it when I'm desperate... but, luckily, it makes my heartburn better for a few days! Seriously, if you're pregnant, or get bad heartburn... I suggest trying this. It works!) I went downstairs before going to bed and saw my half full water bottle on the counter. I decided to just pour some Cider in it and drink it that way. I brought it upstairs with me but didn't finish it...

The next night, we were putting Brody to bed and I took him in his room. Bobby got Brody's bottle (that he had already had half of) and filled it with water to give him more to drink. I laid down next to Brody, gave him his bottle and he put it to his mouth. I then heard him say "ooh, hot!" I didn't think much of it, but then he put it to his mouth again, took it out and shook his head. Once more, he did the same thing! Every so often his bottle will get too many bubbles at the top so he just gets some air. I thought this was the problem, so I put it in my mouth to get rid of the bubbles, but tasted something NASTY! I asked Bobby where he got the bottle? I thought it was an old one he may have found somewhere? (Not that I leave nasty milk bottles around- but it was a possibility!) So, Bobby told me that it was the bottle Brody was drinking on our bed. I decided to open the bottle and smell it- there was no way I was going to taste it again. It was seriously sour! It even smelled sour! I got off of Brody's bed to try and find his "good bottle". (I'm sorry I didn't completely believe you, honey!!!) Bobby kept telling me it was the one he was already drinking. Then all of a sudden, while I was looking around our room, I asked... "what water did you put in here?" He pointed to my now empty water bottle. He immediately said "oh crap!". We laughed so hard! He had put the rest of my apple cider vinegar water in Brody's bottle! It was so funny to realize what had happened! I was just glad that Brody (and I) hadn't been drinking rotten milk!

"Daddy's gonna..."

"GETCH-EW!"

Brody loves it when Bobby says this. He thinks it is so FUN to run away from him, hide, and wait for his daddy to get him. (He squeals in suspense for a while sometimes- it makes my stomach churn just waiting for Bobby to pop out from behind the couch or something!)
Yesterday the boys were playing while I was making dinner and Brody started to say "getchew". (At times, when he says something, we will repeat what we think he is saying... just to make sure we understand him. If we get it wrong, he will repeat it- until we say it right and then he replies with a "yeah") So, when Bobby heard Brody say this he asked "Get YOU?" Brody then repeated himself - "getchew" so Bobby asked again... "Get YOU?" Brody: "Getchew" So, Bobby then said "Getchew?" Brody: "yeah" We were laughing our heads off! I guess we need to use better pronunciation!!

Brody's phone conversation

Brody holds up any phone to his ear (it's sometimes even his hand) and says:

"Hi, hi dadda, love you, thank you, bye!"

That's it... the same conversation every time. He then puts the phone down and pushes the buttons to turn it off. He keeps us laughing constantly!

My mom says...

"It'll be better when he's 4"! HA! I guess I was TERRIBLE from the age of two until four- my poor poor mommy... I'm sorry!! (But, look at me now!) :)

Yesterday Brody was "on one". I can't figure out how to get him to stop HITTING and KICKING me... let alone, say "NO" to me. (that word rings in my ears all day long). I don't know how he learned to say it with attitude, I surely don't say it to him in that kind of voice! Lately, I've been trying to just get down on his level, speak softly, and explain to him that we don't hit or kick... or say "no to mommy when she asks you to do something". That usually works, but it hasn't been too effective recently.

So, a little friend named "time-out" has become a member of our family. And, Brody tends love his new little friend. WHAT- You ask? YES! He enjoys time-out. He actually ASKS for time-out. He will scream at me... hit me... whatever it takes, and then say "time-out?". I honestly have never been a fan of time-out, I thought he was still a little too young, but apparently he understands. I am not a supporter of spanking, so I really have no other "discipline" ideas.

Yesterday, after his little "episode" I put him in time-out. This time I put him on his bed and shut his door. He came after me, did a little cry, I put him back, shut his door (no crying from him) and went into my room to get ready. About 5-10 minutes went by and I was pretty surprised! He ended up coming out of his room, and I said "are you ready to say sorry and give mommy loves?" his response... (with attitude) "NO!!", followed by, "time-out?" as he walked back into his room. I couldn't believe it! He sat on his bed for another 5 minutes. I finally went in there and sat next to him. He ended up saying sorry and giving me a big hug and kiss. I think the whole time-out thing affected me more than him.

What a little stinker!!

Isn't he too sweet though!

It's nice to know he's learning

Yesterday I told Brody that Daddy was on his way home. As soon as he heard this he folded his arms, bowed his head, mumbled a few words and said "amen". I looked at him and said, "do you want to pray?" he said he did. So, I started to say "Heavenly Father..." he repeated everything that I said, PLUS, in the middle of our quiet little prayer he whispered, "dadda". I then said "Please bless Dadda to get home safely". What a sweet boy he is! Nothing makes me more happy than to know that he is learning those things that we try so hard to teach him. Parenthood is the absolute BEST!

35 1/2 weeks pregnant

I can't believe I STILL have 4.5 weeks left until this little guy arrives (seriously... look at how BIG that belly is. After Bobby took the pics I looked at them and said... "Am I really that big?" His response... "Yeah" - as in DUH! HA!) I am anxious to see him and can't wait to have him here, but at the same time, I am just fine with him being in my belly for a little bit longer. Mainly because I know that once he is out, all of the sleepless nights will come. Not that I'm really sleeping too well right now anyway. Who could sleep well with a basketball in their belly? I have to basically throw myself just to turn over... and then I end up waking Bobby and Brody. Oops! Not to mention the peeing 3x a night!

Last night I had Bobby take some belly pictures for me. I haven't been taking them as much as I wanted, but whenever I think about it, I am either getting ready for bed, or have nobody around to take a picture for me. Although, I'm sure Brody would do a marvelous job at it- I should have him try next time! :)
About 10 minutes after Bobby took my pics, Brody went and stood in the exact same spot where I was, put his feet a little more than shoulder-width apart (no clue why?) lifted his shirt, turned his face towards us (we were on the couch) and said "cheese! camera!" We were laughing sooo hard! It was the funniest thing ever. He was wanting some "belly shots" as well. So, we took some of him, and then some of him and me together. He is such a little stud!
Brody's "cheese! camera!" belly shot! (Look at his serious face!)

Brody, Mommy and Baby Brother (and his basketball hoop that he can't live without!)

Another Belly shot! (again, no clue why he puts his feet apart- he's too silly!)

Me, missing the top of my head, Brody, and our babies.
